Event involving the aircraft of type Boeing B747-4R7F with registration number LX-OCV operated by Cargolux Airlines International SA on 14 May 2023 at Luxembourg Airport

Following the event that occurred on 14 May 2023 at 17:01 UTC during the landing at Luxembourg Airport (ELLX) to the Boeing B747-4R7F aircraft registered LX-OCV and operated by Cargolux Airlines International SA, the Administration of Technical Investigations (AET) opened a safety investigation in accordance with the provisions of the Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and the Regulation (EU) No 996/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The AET notified the serious incident to the States of design and of manufacture, as well as to the International Civil Aviation Organization, the European Commission and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.

The investigation, whose main objective is to improve safety by preventing future accidents and incidents, is carried out in accordance with the international standards and recommended practices for aircraft accident and incident investigation without apportioning blame or liability and involves all national, European and international stakeholders covered by the above-mentioned provisions.

The first phase of the investigation, which is still ongoing, consists of collecting information and evidence in order to be able to determine the causes and/or contributing factors that led to the serious incident and, when appropriate, to formulate safety recommendations aiming to prevent seminal events in the future.

The AET expects to communicate on factual elements of the occurrence when the phase consisting of information gathering has ended.
